9 TIPS TO LOOK GOOD IN YOUR 30S!

1. Stay Hydrated

Did you know that staying hydrated is your skin’s best friend?

Are you surprised this is the number one tip?

Probably not, because you know how important it is to stay hydrated and DRANK (not drink), DRANK YOUR WATER!

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and is mostly made up of water.

Without enough water, your skin can’t function at its best and can become dry, dull, and flaky.

One way I keep hydrated is by using a collapsible water bottle.

It’s super convenient because I can fill it up, drink on the go, and then collapse it to save space.

Plus, it’s BPA-free and can handle extreme temperatures.

Try it out and see the difference in your skin!

2. FULLY Remove Your Makeup

I always make sure to remove all my makeup so my skin can breathe.

Using just a makeup wipe isn’t enough.

Throughout the day, airborne bacteria and pollution stick to your skin, and if not washed away properly, they can cause pigmentation and breakouts.

When I’m wearing a full face of makeup, I double cleanse.

Double cleansing means washing your face twice—first with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and impurities, then with a water-based cleanser to deep clean pores and remove any leftover residue.

Though it takes more time, double cleansing is worth it. It keeps your skin fresh and healthy, reduces breakouts and clogged pores, and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

Use products designed for your specific skin type for the best results.

Here are some of my favorite products to use for double cleansing:
Neutrogena Gentle Makeup Remover

Shop this: Amazon

Why I recommend it: It’s the perfect choice for those who want to remove their makeup without irritating their skin. This product gently removes even waterproof makeup and won’t leave behind any greasy residue, making it ideal for people with sensitive or oily skin, PLUS it’s pretty inexpensive, so yay!

Sephora Smoothing cleanser
Shop this: Sephora

Why I recommend it: This is a gentle, oil-free cleanser that helps to nourish and hydrate the skin. It contains ingredients such as glycerin and squalane to help draw moisture into the skin while gently removing leftover makeup, dirt, and impurities.

3. Start Using Anti-Aging Products

Now is the perfect time—yes, right now—to start using anti-aging products.

By the time we hit our thirties, many of us start noticing signs of aging (hello, gray hairs!).

While aging is natural, skincare routines and products can help minimize its effects.

Anti-aging products are specifically crafted to reduce aging effects on your skin, offering various benefits tailored for those in their thirties.

Benefits of anti-aging products:

Hydration

Anti-aging products provide essential hydration, crucial as our skin loses moisture with age, causing dryness and uneven texture.

Creams and serums in this category are designed to replenish moisture levels, leaving skin softer, smoother, and more youthful in appearance.

Antioxidants. Free-radical fighting *woot* *woot*

Anti-aging products fight free radicals, which can damage cells and cause premature aging.

Antioxidants in these products combat free radicals, reducing wrinkles and age spots for healthier, youthful-looking skin.

Stimulate Collagen

Anti-aging products often stimulate collagen production.

Collagen is crucial for skin structure and elasticity, but its production decreases with age, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and an aged appearance.

Skincare companies now offer creams, serums, and supplements containing collagen to help maintain skin firmness and elasticity.

4. Make Eye Cream A Part of Your Life

I first got eye cream at 25, and I was initially surprised (and maybe a bit dramatic looking back). The skin around your eyes ages faster than the rest of your face.

Eye creams protect the thin skin under your eyes and can reduce issues like dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines.

Make sure to check the ingredients and add eye cream to your skincare routine for the best results.

5. Chill out with the Concealer

As we age, dark circles can become more noticeable.

However, applying too much concealer can accentuate fine lines and wrinkles, making you look older.

Instead, choose a concealer with good coverage or luminizing properties. Liquid concealers work well for the delicate skin around the eyes.

I recommend NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer and Born This Way Multi-Use Concealer for their brightening effect and long-lasting coverage.

Apply a few dots and blend gently with a damp beauty blender sponge for a natural finish that doesn’t settle into lines.

6. A Great Quality Primer Is Your Friend

Using primer has many benefits—it controls oiliness, creates a smooth base for makeup, reduces shine, evens out skin tone, hides flaws, minimizes pores, and smooths wrinkles and fine lines.

Before applying foundation and concealer, primer preps your skin, just like priming a wall before painting.

Personally, my go-to primer is Dr. Brandt Pores No More. While it’s on the pricier side, a small amount goes a long way, giving me effective results that last.

I always opt for a high-quality primer that requires less product.

It’s a worthwhile investment because it ensures my makeup stays flawless and lasts longer, which is important to me.

Why I love this primer: This primer helps reduce the appearance of pores and even out your complexion. It also contains salicylic acid, which helps treat breakouts and blemishes, as well as collagen-supporting peptides to help keep skin looking plump and youthful.

7. Body exfoliation gloves to scrub are a game changer!

I love a good ol’ body scrub, and honestly, I used to make them myself with oil, essential oil, and some salt (but now I have a few store-bought body scrubs that I love because I don’t have the time to make them!).

Body scrubs should not be $95, especially if they’re full of chemicals that do more harm to your skin than good.

Exfoliating is important because it removes dead skin cells clogging the skin.

When you exfoliate, you uncover fresh new cells below, which gives you softer, glowing skin.

Additionally, by exfoliating, you open the way for moisturizing products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective.

I recently discovered exfoliation gloves, and OMG, it’s a game-changer. At first thought, it seems ridiculous, but listen, I’M A BELIEVER! You can use them dry (like dry brushing). However, they work best on wet skin.

Exfoliating gloves are meant to be used with water and body wash or soap, so I recommend wetting your entire body, as well as your exfoliating glove, then start scrubbing.

Your exfoliator glove is your exfoliator. Be sure to use circular motions and replace them often to prevent built-up bacteria (the gloves below are washable so that you can reuse them! (Yay, for the environment!).

When it comes to how to look good in your 30s, exfoliating and removing dead skin cells is super important!

Exfoliating your face, neck, and body can help keep your skin looking youthful and vibrant. Make sure to use a gentle scrub or exfoliator that won’t damage your skin (which is why I like the exfoliating gloves because you can choose how gentle you want to be based on your skin!)

8. Lip scrubs are everything too.

I want lips that are soft, smooth, and healthy—definitely not flaky or cracking.

Lip scrubs work wonders because they remove dead skin, revealing a fresh layer and making lips look and feel better. They also help maintain lip health by preventing dead skin from trapping bacteria that could cause infections or cold sores.

When using a lip scrub, apply it gently in circular motions from the center of your lips outward. Avoid rubbing back and forth to prevent irritation. After about 30 seconds, rinse with warm water and pat your lips dry with a clean towel. Finish with lip balm or moisturizer to keep your lips hydrated.

Please don’t exfoliate your face and body, and forget about your lips!

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has been a game-changer for me.

It deeply hydrates and repairs dry lips overnight, soothing and nourishing them with hydrating and antioxidant-rich ingredients.

Using lip scrubs keeps my lips smooth and healthy by gently removing dead skin.

This prevents bacteria buildup and allows moisturizers to penetrate better, maintaining hydration and preventing issues like infections or cold sores.

9. Consider a light cleanse in the morning

used to wash my face morning and night with strong cleansers, thinking it was the best way to manage my oily skin.

Turns out, I was over-cleansing, which can actually make oily skin worse by stripping away too much natural moisture.

To balance things out, I’ve changed my routine. In the morning, I skip the face wash and opt for a toner instead.

I just splash some water on my face, pat dry, and then apply toner with a cotton ball to remove any dirt and oil that accumulated overnight.

This simple switch has made a big difference for me—I’ve noticed my skin produces less oil throughout the day.

It’s important to note, though, that if you have acne-prone skin or excess oil, a gentle cleanser in the morning might still be necessary to keep your skin clear and balanced.

10. Body luminizers instantly give your glowing skin

Ah, let’s talk about body luminizer—a secret weapon for that summer glow! Body luminizer is like magic in a bottle, designed to give your skin a subtle, radiant shimmer.

Whether it’s in powder or liquid form, you can apply it directly onto your skin or mix it with foundation for an all-over glow.

During summer, I swear by body luminizer, especially on my legs and shoulders—it’s my go-to beauty trick.

Sometimes I even whip up my own DIY version, because why not add a personal touch, right?

But hey, if DIY isn’t your thing (or if you’re feeling a bit lazy like me sometimes), there are plenty of amazing body luminizers on the market.

The key is that shimmer—when the sunlight hits, it’s pure magic, and you’ll be glowing all day long!

11. Say YES To Serums

Serums are fantastic—they’re loaded with potent ingredients like antioxidants and skin-restoring compounds, skipping extras like SPF or emollients found in moisturizers (which is why they can be pricier).

When choosing a serum, I always check the ingredient list for high concentrations of active ingredients.

The closer these are to the top of the list, the more powerful the serum is likely to be. It’s a simple trick that helps me ensure I’m getting the most out of my skincare routine.

Serums to help you look younger:

Retinol

Retinol is effective for fighting acne, evening out skin tone, reducing wrinkles, stimulating collagen, and boosting cellular turnover.

I use retinol especially during seasonal changes to give my skin an extra boost.

When choosing a retinol serum, make sure it has a meaningful concentration of active ingredients to get the best results.

Hydraulic acid

Hyaluronic acid is an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells, promotes cell turnover, reduces wrinkles and fine lines, hydrates the skin, and helps treat hyperpigmentation.

Vitamin- E

Vitamin- E is an excellent antioxidant that helps to protect the skin from environmental damage and premature aging.

It helps to reduce wrinkles, boost collagen production, even out skin tone, and reduce the appearance of scars.

Acids & Peptides:

Acids and peptides work wonders for skin health—they reduce wrinkles, improve texture, boost collagen production, and restore hydration.

AHA & BHA:

Alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy acids gently smooth and brighten your skin by removing dead cells, shrinking pores, and evening out your skin tone.

When choosing products, focus on what your skin needs most—like mine, which needs a bit of brightening to look its best!

12. Get Good Sleep, GURL

Getting enough sleep is crucial for your brain to function properly. As we get older, our skin needs more time to repair itself each night.

Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep to allow your cells to regenerate, which helps reduce wrinkles.

In your 30s, it’s essential to establish consistent morning and night routines that prioritize sleep.

While you might have gotten by with less sleep in your 20s (like I did!), now is the time to prioritize quality rest.

Sleep not only repairs your skin but also maintains its natural moisture, preventing dullness, dark circles, and wrinkles.

Make sure to get enough sleep each night to keep your skin looking fresh and healthy.

13. Move your body

Exercise is like a magic pill for health and youthfulness. Just 10 minutes a day can reduce your risk of age-related diseases.

I recently started using ClassPass and I’m hooked! It lets me take classes at different places, keeping my workouts exciting.

If gyms aren’t your vibe, there are plenty of ways to move—like walking, dancing, or following YouTube workouts.

Here are my go-to at-home workout essentials: [Your recommendations here]. These keep me fit and feeling great!

Kettle Bell

Kettlebells are weights with handles used for full-body workouts.

They’re great for strength, cardio, and flexibility, improving core strength and overall fitness.

Bosu Ball

A Bosu ball is a half-dome fitness tool used for balance, core strengthening, and flexibility exercises.

It challenges stability, improves coordination, and enhances muscle strength and overall fitness.

Fitness ball

Exercise and staying hydrated are crucial! If you live in Arlington, you can get IV therapy to quickly hydrate and deliver essential minerals directly into your bloodstream.
